So last night Peter goes off with his mom to get a couple of gifts. He was headed to Circuit City so we looked online and saw that they had this really inexpensive DVD player which is just what we need to put in the bedroom until we can get an Xbox for the lounge. (WHen I say inexpensive I mean it was about $25). So anyway, Peter gets a gift for his mom, he gets me a new headset (so I can try and get Skype to work) and he gets a roll of wrapping paper and the dvd player.
The guy at the till rings him up and he walks out to the car. He cannot see his mom anywhere so he comes back towards the store and walks inside with the parcels which sets off the scanner at the door. THey check his till slip and his packages and he goes in to find his mom. They walk out together and he goes to the security guy and asks him to please check his bag and then walk with him through the stupid door scanner, the guy says no, it's alright.
He gets home. He was showing me how well he had done and showing me the till slip and we realize.... they didn't chrge for the DVD player... EVerything else is on the slip... not the dvd player. Score!!! Right?? Ok, as Peter says, this isnt a mom and pop store... this is Circuit City... they are not going to miss one $25 DVD player... and besides they had three opporutnities to pick up on this... they even checked his bags!!! No one noticed... he never intended to take it... It was their oversight at the till and security... their mistake!! ...so we refuse to feel guilty...
We plugged it all in last night.... the dvd player doesnt work..... Karma stinks doesn't it!! Well no... it works... the picture is just very very wonky and temperamental and there is nothing we can do to fix it!! We can't even take it back though... it's not on the slip. So we might have to go and buy another one and call it a day with this one. Funny how the world works huh...
Oh well... anyway, time for my day to start now...
