The search is over!!

Well, we finally did it. We finally found a place that we agree on. Delsan Court it is! (The other looks fab in the picture, but we did a drive-by and it is HORRIBLE! And I think the neighborhood is worse than where we are now... if that's even possible). It's lovely and clean and fresh and while the fixtures are all circa 1950, they are in well maintained condition and freshly painted etc.

The layout of the places is also fab and while there aren't formal laundry hook-ups, there is a gap next to the sink that is perfect for my little washer as it hooks into the sink anyway (gotta love a dorm washer!). There is also a HUGE pantry cupboard where the boiler is, and I think that when I get my dryer I will put it in there so it is out of the way. ALl in all the kitchen has loads of cupboard space, will have all new appliances. The countertops are new too.

The hardwood floors are newly finished and absolutely stunning! Upstairs the bedrooms aren't exactly HUGE, but they are a decent size and we can fit our bed in at least. Unfortunately the bathtub (the most important feature to Peter) is still one of those 1950s wide-but-shallow tubs... the ones with the very straight back so if you lounge in there for too long you get a crooked neck and the top of you is never under water. But we will work something out. Maybe I will get him one of those jauzzi mats for Christmas. With all those bubbles he is sure to stay wet on top.

The windows throughout are those wierd up near the ceiling ones, which is ok, since it is a close community and I don't really need to peek in on what my neighbor is up to. At least I also now know that they cant see me either.

Oh oh! Did I mention that there is a hall closet?? yes! There is... a real life cupboard for coats and boots... and ALSO a linen cupboard for all my towels and bed linens... (not yet counting the cupboard in the office). There is the small matter of a dining room for which we have no furniture, but my mom wants to get us a set for Christmas (forgetting about the washer I got in August as an early Christmas gift). We are going to look so silly in there with no furniture for a while. But it feels good to have a place that we will grow into instead of squeezing into these dingy bachelor pads like we have been.

The next hurdle is the application form. We will only be moving in on the 15th December (before Christmas YAY!) but we need to give them this form back etc. They do a credit check which we are pretty scared about because we have no credit. Yes, that's right folks. We don't owe anyone anything. We are the last of our kind. This of course means that we have no credit rating, and in America no rating = bad rating so this might pose a problem. We will see.

In brighter news I am going to post my circle journal tomorrow. I walked all the way to the post office to find that I didn't have my purse with me, and while I had my cheque book, I had no id so I couldnt even write a cheque... I wanted to sink into the earth. The lady laughed and said that you'd be suprised how often that actually happens to people... Well this time I am giving carrier pick-up a try. How amazing is that... he comes and takes it from me and I pay the postage etc online. I have learned that it is almost completely unnecessary for me to ever leave my home. I love it!!

We tried to take some pics for our Christmas cards the other night. They are all flops (all 63 of them.) We are the two most unphotogenic people alive I think. But we got this lovely one of Jack!

He is just so doggone beautiful!!

And with that lengthy update I leave you!
