Why was I never informed about Texas??? Who is responsible for this?? The most fantastic place on earth and no one bothers to tell me about it... I am disappointed!
We had a fantastic time and soaked up every drop of sun possible... we are going to need it in the upcoming dark months of winter in Buffalo.... We LOVE LOVE LOVE Texas! What a place!
It is VERY like Cape Town... colorful, arty, warm, friendly... just newer buildings and people in cowboy hats and boots! We are seriously considering a change of plans on the whole Holland move... well... maybe not... we are at the very least planning to move to Texas instead of taking the gorgeous little townhouse of my previous post.... now that we have seen what else is out there the gorgeous little townhome just doesn't cut the mustard anymore! We have been busying ourselves with thoughts of moving... we have scoured www.AustinHomeSearch.com looking for houses to lease. Being surrounded by loads of family in a warm climate... i don't know... the idea is just too tempting for words!
We arrived on Tuesday evening, and were so tired from all the travelling that we just ordered Tex-Mex takeout and played a card game with Peter's neice and nephew Carson and Wyatt and their mom Julie and Peter's Mama.
Wednesday morning we were supposed to go for breakfast at a place called Las Manitas in downtown Austin, but with our faffing about and still a bit jetlagged (only 1 hour, but it makes a big difference!) we missed breakfast and got there for lunch... very tasty!!
We also stopped at this little gift store next door that sold all kinds of South American arts and crafts... I felt like I had died and gone to heaven... WOW!! Just look at all that gorgeous sunshine... *sigh*... I miss sunshine!

We also went down to the dog-park which is on a river to walk Julie's (Peter's sister) dog Calvin... the most precious little-big dog you ever saw! I think... and I am not 100% sure here... but i THINK I may have broken a bit of a sweat on this walk. haha
Wednesday night we had all of Peter's family come over for dinner and so I got to meet everyone before Thanksgiving dinner. They were all really great and welcoming. We had chinese take-out and all hung out. Please note how my pasty white Buffalonian complexion caused major reflections on the camera flash... I barely have a nose! ACK!!
Ok, well my Inbox is filling up now so I had best be off for a bit. Will hopefully be back a bit later to add the Thanksgiving pictures and to update you on my sick husband...
xxx Ros
