It's not a life changing amount, but receiving our tax refund today means that we have some decisions to make. Do we pay off credit cards so we can finally pack them away for good and then focus on the house. Or do we save that money (a quarter of the return amount) and instead put it with the rest towards getting this place finished?
We've decided to mull it over at dinner tonight. Our one wasteful splurge... we're going to
Chilis... how classy are we! (Better than the McD's dollar menu.)

Yay! That's awesome. Well, I don't know how it works there, but here it actually works against you to have fully-paid up credit cards that are sitting dormant. SO STUPID, I know, but it actually puts a negative light on your credit reference. A lightly used, and always-paid-on-time card is more helpful. My dad paid off his Barclaycard the other day, and they promptly dropped his credit down by more than £2k!!!
