Advice/Opinions Needed

Please meet our patio set. "Hi!" *wave* "Hey, hey!"
OK, formalities out of the way....

We brought these lovelies into our house a couple of months ago, before the summer rush had officially started. Home Depot had the set on sale for $60 which is unheard of for a decent set so we snapped it up.  (Please note the rust marks on the left arm of the left chair... yep... quality folks!)

We knew right off the bat that this was not our dream set, but it was priced right so I decided to make do... but after seeing it with the rest of our home and furniture I realize that it is totally not our look at all... not even close! And there is nothing we can do to camoflauge it short of painting and recovering those cushions.

I have two questions for you:

1) What color should I paint the chair frames?
2) What to do with the brownish glass top?

I was thinking about some more of that wonderful blue Rustoleum spray paint in and then sourcing some great fabric in green or aqua or both. I know, more green... I can't help myself! Here are some examples of fabrics I love! (These are WAY out of my budget, but just for ideas...) Do you know if it's possible to turn regular fabric into outdoor fabric? I am so sure I saw something about that on a blog but can't find it now... Maybe Scotch Guard spray will suffice?   ** ETA:  I also just realized that THESE are more in the price range I had in mind, and LOVELY!

If I do go with a blue frame, what on earth to do with the brown glass top? I really like the look of glass, but brown just isn't doing it for me, and not sure it would work with the look I am going for. Perhaps tile? Ugh... it's a little predictable I think... I wonder if there is a kind of frosted contact paper that I can cover over it... it may not completely hide the brown but possibly tone it down... I wonder...

Hmmmm I kinda like the colouring. But then I do like me red stripes! If you're thinking of using spring/lime green fabric, I'd say paint the metal cream, or maybe a steel blue colour, like in that fabric with the flowers. I'm not so sure about the lamp blue for the metal... you would need to keep the fabric quite toned down then. We get frosted window contact paper here, so I'm sure you'd get it there. But otw, maybe just cover it with some cute oil cloth? Modge podge it onto the glass. Then you can take it off when you're sick of it. Or mosaic...

Really love the chairs, great find. I am kinda confused as to what you are planning to paint remodel. Is it the outside patio, outside table (brown galss) or inside? As for outside you do need a bit more light and color, even bringing in lighter plants will help

I found your blog thru Tea Rose Home and have had so much fun reading thru your posts! I wanted to suggest here that they make a contact paper for windows, available in most big box home improvement stores, in a lot of different designs. Or you could do some glass etching? Here is a link for the window film.
