Do You Know Where Your Towel is?
So I bet you're looking at this pic and thinking, "OK. Where're the crafts?" I agree, at first glance this doesn't look like a pile of crafty goodness. But factor in that this pile of cut up, edged out old towels kept me at my cutting table for an hour, and at my sewing machine for about 6 hours (longer than any other project I've worked on in the past) I figured it would qualify.
This pile of 88 cloths, made out of 12 towels is not headed to a thrift store, nor is it headed to the dump.... there is a far more noble future ahead for them because these towels are headed to the Gulf where they will be used by the animal rescue teams already on the ground to clean up the wildlife caught in the middle of this awful oil spill.
I've talked about this project before (link above), but as this is crafty link party day for me, and so maximum traffic day, I wanted to mention it again. I am working with Craft Hope for the Earth to knit, sew, crochet and donate in any means possible cloths that can be used for this purpose.
Click here for details on how you can participate.
To see how the animals in that region are being affected, please visit this link to a gallery on Huffington Post. *WARNING: Not for sensitive readers. I cried like a baby when I looked through these.*
