Sunburst Mirror ala Nester
Sooo, I've been catching up on my crafty blogs lately trying to find some inspiration to use on all this free time I've had between jobs. I stumbled into this gorgeous instructional from Nester. Looks easy enough right? Of course I snapped up some cardstock on our next trip to the store, and dragged Peter to 4 different places trying to find a mirror that could work... I ended up having to bu a set of 5 - so you will see more soon!
OK, so mine is not as tight knit as Nesters. Nor are my rays straight. I blame the frequent squeals of excitement and skippy laps round the table as the piece came together. I could hardly contain myself I swear. I am in love with it just as it is.
Some things I learned along the way:
1) Definitely mark N, S, E, W and NE, SE, NW, SW clearly.
2) Measure the space you wish to hang the piece, and measure the diameter often as you add longer rays to be sure that your space will accommodate the monster you're creating. (see my rays poking up into the ceiling? Yeah... it doesn't lie flat on the wall back there.)
3) Be very meticulous about your cutting and folding... I know you're excited to get the stupid "rays" onto the stupid mirror so you can stand back and admire your work... but I realized how important it was to pay close attention to the grain of the card to avoid uneven fold lines, and to cut slowly so the rays match up.
Seriously though... when you're done... you are going to LOVE IT! I promise promise!

I just love how yours turned out! I am making one right now, but I'm using a clock in the center.(: Thanks for the tips!
You can check it out on my blog once it's done, too! http://simplysudiemae.blogspot.com/
